Version 4.1.8
Following a successful reboot of the OWASP Developer Guide in 2023, versions 4.0 to version 4.1.7 are published in the Developer Guide project repo.
Starting from version 4.1.8, the OWASP Developer Guide was brought back in to this DevGuide repo.

Version 3.0.0
Version 3.0 was an attempt at a reboot of the OWASP Developer Guide, following an abandoned attempt to rewrite the guide in 2010.
In its turn Version 3.0 was abandoned in 2014, and is included here for historical interest.

Version 2.0.1
The 2.0.1 Black Hat Edition has minor differences from version 2.0, primarily a new crypto and buffer overflow after a last minute review from Michael Howard of Microsoft. It was released on July 25, 2005.

Everything that is required to publish the OWASP Guide 2.0.1 is in the source tree. You open up the master document ("Guide 2.0.1.doc"), find your master document toolbar, and choose "Expand sub-documents". Word will load all the other documents, and become very slow.

Version 2.0
This is the first version of the OWASP Developer Guide to really take on the "builder" community, released on July 24, 2005.
The first few editions of the OWASP Guide were primarily for testers, but this version actually tried to help developers, too.

Version 1.1.0
This is version 1.1 of "OWASP - A Guide to Building Secure Web Applications and Web Services", released in September of 2002.
As you can see, the formatting of this edition leaves a great deal to be desired, but it's still the OWASP Guide.
This edition did not last long, it was replaced by a better rendered version not long afterwards.

Version 1.0.0
This is the original "OWASP - A Guide to Building Secure Web Applications and Web Services 1.0", released in June 2002. Only a few folks wrote it, and it's more of a testing guide than a developer's guide.
For all that, it's the origin of the global OWASP community.

Version 1.1.1
This is version 1.1.1 of "OWASP - A Guide to Building Secure Web Applications and Web Services", released in September of 2002.
This version has many formatting fix-ups, and was the main version in use from 2002 until being replaced in 2005 with the final version of OWASP Developer Guide 2.0.

This was also the first major translation of any OWASP material. Thank you to those who help spread our mission globally.
